Lesson Format

Mondays are short, intense sessions to build the strength, conditioning and fitness required for training in martial arts.

Wednesdays allow more time to learn techniques and principles required for your grade level.

Saturdays are divided into an early class for more advanced students and a later class that all are welcome to attend. The advanced class will be taken by Sifu Ivan on alternate weeks to allow the exploration of higher level concepts and one-to-one feedback for senior students. The general class will be in the form of a workshop, where students of all levels are able to interact and train together.

Beginners Information

The class starts promptly so it is recommended that you arrive around 5 minutes early for your first lesson so the instructor on hand can give you a brief description of the teaching.

An instructor (wearing a black shirt with a club logo on the left side) will introduce themselves, cover any queries you may have about the club and explain how the class will work.

No prior experience or fitness required! Wear comfortable clothing, closed shoes and bring as many questions as you like.


All training sessions are held in the martial arts gym, above the reception area of the UQ Sports & Fitness Centre in St Lucia.
